Food Insecurity on Long Island Up 30%

New report from LI Cares 2024
New report from LI Cares 2024

A new report from Long Island Cares reveals a troubling rise in food insecurity across our region. According to the data, over 300,000 Long Islanders are now struggling to access enough food—a staggering 30% increase from previous years.

This growing need is being felt in every corner of our communities, from working families to seniors on fixed incomes. Local food pantries and hunger relief organizations are seeing record demand as more neighbors reach out for support.

The findings come from Long Island Cares' new report, The State of Food Insecurity on Long Island, which urges action, awareness, and stronger community support to meet the moment.
